[edit] Nasty Bourbon
After working in the reguage room where & see how the barrels are drained, I will not ever drink any product from this distillery. The bungs are drilled out and the barrels are rolled over to drain the whiskey which runs over the side of the barrels that have gathered animal and fowl feces during the aging process. The personel people said that the alchohol will sterilize it. Probally so but the feces is still in the whiskey regardless & I know it is there..
Also, years of crud have built up on the draining troff & the whiskey splashes on it also before being drained.
At Jim Beam, the bungs are drilled and a vacuume tube is placed inside to drain the whiskey and this never touches the outside of the barrels. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bodeen (talk • contribs) 16:57, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

- Special sauce? I spent quite a lot of time there and watched a few batches go from barrel to bottle myself. Didn't see anything like what you're describing. Kaplansa (talk) 17:54, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

- Heh, nasty. I'd imagine the care taken with the process probably depends on the employees that happen to be working. I once worked at a pharmeceuticals production place, and if the wrong people were in charge of a product fill they'd be cutting corners left and right, and had all kinds of tricks for getting past inspection. However, if other people were in charge, everything was produced very professionally. It all depended on who the employees were. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.222.7.228 (talk) 01:16, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Most Award-winning
The ref for calling Buffalo Trace the "most award-winning" bourbon in the world is simply a page that states that it is the most-award winning bourbon, without any sort of explanation or justification for the statement, like a list of awards, or at least the number of awards it has won compared to Beam, Heaven Hill, Brown-Forman, et al. As such, it is not really verifiable. I'm deleting that. If anyone objects, respond or find a better justification. Josh (talk) 17:26, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
