Image talk:Bufo melanostictus female.jpg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bufo Melanostictus (Asian Gold Toad or Asian Common Toad). This specimen is an adult female measuring over 4" from snout to vent. Her exact age is not known, however she has been in captivity for over 7 years. Little is known about her, except that she was being kept at a facility that ran summer and day camp for children in Upstate, NY. In the summer of 2004, when she was no longer wanted at the camp, she was given to a privately owned pet shop who contacted the site owners of http://www.toadilytoads.com and the toad was then taken by Toadily Toads. She was named, Melanie, a shortened version of "melanostictus" and has lived happily in her new home since summer 2004 with no illnesses or problems.

Trivia: Melanie was used in 2005 for an advertising campaign in Asia after her pictures were seen in her gallery on the Toadily Toads website. Her favorite food is pinkie mice.

This photo was taken by her current care givers.
