Coordinates: 46°51′56″N 96°28′04″W / 46.8655165, -96.4678474 Buffalo River State Park is a Minnesota state park about 14 miles (23 km) from Moorhead near the North Dakota border. It protects one of the largest and best prairie remnants in the state.

At the time of construction in 1937, the park was the only state-owned recreational facility in the region. The park was built to include a swimming area, since there were few other recreation opportunities in the area. Three buildings and three structures in the park, built in the Rustic Style, were added to the National Register of Historic Places.
