Talk:Buddhadeb Bosu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
'Bosu' is non-standard spelling of this writer's surname. The name should be either 'Bose' (Anglicised) or 'Basu' (The usual modern Bengali version). I'm not sure about 'Buddhadeb' either. Shouldn't it be "Buddhadev'? If i don't get a response in say ten days I propose to rename.

I also feel that the surname should be "Basu". But the first name should remain "Buddhadeb" as this is the closest to the original bengali spelling and pronunciation.

I agree, 'Bosu' is not standard. If we wanted to be phonetic, we should have written something like 'Buddhodeb Boshu'. But being close to Bengali pronunciation is not the only consideration. Many people are already well known in English by some spelling of their name. Can some one find out what spelling he himself used in his English writings?
