In Pakistan, the caring and breeding of Budgerigars has existed for more than twenty years. However, most budgerigar fanciers in the country were not convinced that the show procedures adopted by the existing society to promote this bird were adequate and so they wanted to improve them. Therefore, a group of fanciers decided to form The Budgerigar Society of Pakistan (BSP). This organization operates to international standards and promotes local fanciers by allowing only own-bred birds in shows. The BSP focuses on fanciers instead of members. A person who is not fancier may not be able to adjust as BSP policies are focused on fancy and its promotion instead of supporting bird trading. (http://www.BudgerigarSocietyofPakistan.org)
