Buddleja utahensis Coville[1] |
Buddleja utahensis is a species of butterfly bush known by the common names Utah butterfly bush and Panamint butterfly bush. This is a low, hairy shrub reaching up to half a meter in height but growing wide with extensive branching. The foliage is a very light silvery-green due to the small light hairs. Its leaves are 2 to 3 centimeters long, thick, bumpy, and curling under along the sides. Erect stems bear fuzzy club-shaped inflorescences with series of rounded clusters of flowers. The tubelike flowers bear the same velvety light green surface as the rest of the plant except for their faces, where the flat corolla, about half a centimeter wide, is a light to deep yellow. This species is native to the southwestern United States.
