Buddhist Association of China

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Buddhist Association of China (SC:中国佛教协会) is a major organization of Chinese Buddhism. It was founded in 1953. The Buddhist Association has warned of Falun Gong, a qigong practice defined as an "evil cult" by the Communist Party of China, that is outlawed and persecuted in the People's Republic of China. However, the Association is a branch of the Chinese government, not an independent entity.

The current president is Venerable Master Yi Cheng, who was an organizer for the World Buddhist Forum.

It is different from the Chinese Buddhist Association (中國佛教會)as it is situated in the Republic of China.
