Photo of Douglas Yeo, Bass Trombonist of the Boston Symphony, playing a buccin by Sautermeister, c. 1830 (modern reproduction slide after historical models by James Becker) taken in Symphony Hall, Boston. Instruments in the display case in the background include a "basson Russe" ("Russian bassoon", a form of upright serpent with a zoomorphic head) and an upright military serpent "(Piffault" style).
