Buckingham Township is a township in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 656 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 45.4 square miles (117.7 km²), of which, 44.3 square miles (114.6 km²) of it is land and 1.2 square miles (3.0 km²) of it (2.58%) is water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 656 people, 285 households, and 190 families residing in the township. The population density was 14.8 people per square mile (5.7/km²). There were 526 housing units at an average density of 11.9/sq mi (4.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.63% White, 0.91% Asian, 0.46% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.91% of the population.
There were 285 households out of which 21.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% were non-families. 26.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.75.
In the township the population was spread out with 18.0% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 20.9% from 25 to 44, 32.9% from 45 to 64, and 21.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 104.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.6 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $31,667, and the median income for a family was $36,250. Males had a median income of $28,365 versus $30,250 for females. The per capita income for the township was $23,757. About 6.5% of families and 9.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.1% of those under age 18 and 15.9% of those age 65 or over.
