[edit] British Telecom (BT)

Reading this article I think the whole "British Telecom" thing is a little over stated and over kill to the point that it is essentially a point of view and agenda seeking. So what if a UK company has derived its name from Britain - and discourages anything other than BT as its name - people don't get upset by the many, many companies that trade with the name "UK and Ireland" in their title? I tend to agreed, and tried to clarify it but made it a bit long-winded in the process. BT hasn't called itself British Telecom in nearly fifteen years, remember... British Telecommunications plc isn't even the ultimate holding company any more. --Rdd 22:29, 18 May 2005 (UTC)

I agree. The whole "British" thing is a non-issue. I don't think it has caused any fuss --Colmc 20:23, 20 Febuary 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Esat

Can anyone confirm this before I put it into the article - Esat had bid for Ireland's 5 frequencies under the 1977 ITU Direct Broadcast Satellite plan, but didn't receive them. Its fairly hard to find any references for this on the net - we're talking 1989 decisions by Rambo, err, Ray Burke, so... --Kiand 01:31, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Cannot confirm but do you know if Esat had an earlier name, i have tried some of the variations. Its earliest appearence on www.cro.ie/search is the 1994 (but by no means definitive). Nothing much on http://historical-debates.oireachtas.ie/ either. Djegan 19:12, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Esatlogo.png

Image:Esatlogo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:06, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
