[edit] History

Smith's Friends purchased the farm Brunstad in 1956 and it quickly became their center of activity. It was only used for internal conferences until 2000 when BCC initiated a massive expansion. The updated hall increased seating capacity from 4,700 to 6,800 persons and the tent camp with over 600 caravan spots was replaced with the same number of cabins, which members of the church have the option to lease.

BCC is marketed as a modern location for conventions and conferences. Brunstad has several fast food restaurants, a cafeteria-style restaurant, coffee bar, and its own grocery store.

In 2004 BCC purchased the Østre Bolærne island from the Norwegian Military, but agreed to cancel the transaction after a media frenzy. The island became the property of the county Vestfold Fylkeskommune instead. As compensation, BCC bought property on Syningen in Hallingdal.

[edit] Staffing

Construction and maintenance of Brunstad is traditionally conducted by an all-volunteer force called the A-lag or A-team. It is primarily comprised of youth from many different countries.

[edit] Events

The largest horse show in Norway, the Arctic Equestrian Games, is held at the Brunstad Conference Center. The first event was held in February 2006. [1]
