Bruno Cheyrou (born May 5, 1978 in Suresnes, France) is a professional football player for Rennes of the Ligue 1.

After success with Lille OSC, Gérard Houllier signed Cheyrou, at the time a highly recommended player, scouted for several months by Liverpool scout David Murray, for Liverpool in the summer of 2002 for £4.5 million (€ 6.5m[1]). On signature Houllier dubbed Cheyrou the "new Zidane". Unfortunately, he never lived up to this claim - although a spell of four goals in five games over the Christmas period of the 2003–04 season at one time suggested his Liverpool career may make a turn for the better. Arguably, the highlight of Cheyrou's Liverpool career was the winning goal he scored in the 33rd minute at Chelsea in the 2003–04 season.

At the beginning of the 2004–05 season new manager Rafa Benítez sent Cheyrou on loan to Olympique de Marseille, on a season long loan. He played 20 times for the club, scoring one goal. In the 2005–06 season he was once again sent on a season loan, this time to Girondins de Bordeaux, with a view to a permanent move.

He has been capped three times with the France national team. He made his debut on August 21, 2002 in a 1–1 draw against Tunisia.

Cheyrou has a younger brother, Benoît, who plays for Olympique de Marseille. Cheyrou and his wife Constance welcomed a son, Nino on January 23, 2007 in France.
