Bruce Unfried

Bruce Unfried is a politician and educator in Manitoba, Canada.

Unfried was a student ice hockey coach at Concordia College from 1962 to 1965, with a record of nine wins, 32 losses and one tie. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia in 1965, and a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Manitoba in 1970. He subsequently moved to northern Manitoba.

During the 1980s, he was a popular mayor in The Pas, Manitoba. In the provincial election of 1988, he ran in the as a Progressive Conservative in the riding of The Pas. Many believed he had a chance to win the riding, but he finished well behind New Democratic Party incumbent Harry Harapiak.

Unfried is now a faculty member in the Department of Social Work at the University of Manitoba. He areas of expertise include aboriginal child and family services and community development.
