Bruce Grube

Dr. Bruce Grube is the eleventh President of Georgia Southern University, a Georgia Regional University located in Statesboro, Georgia,United States. He has been president of the University since 1999. Before joining Georgia Southern University, he was the president of St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He served as provost at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and at Colorado State University, Pueblo.

Grube began his career as an instructor at the University of Texas, Austin. He also served briefly on the faculty of John Jay College, a unit of the City University of New York. He was a professor of political science at California State University, Pomona; at Colorado State University, Pueblo; at St. Cloud State University; and, at Georgia Southern University.

Grube received his Ph.D. in government from the University of Texas, in Austin, Texas, focusing on American government and politics, public administration and comparative politics. He earned his A.B., in political science, from the University of California, in Berkeley, Calif. He has served as a faculty member at all of the institutions where he has been employed, including his previous position at St. Cloud State. His teaching and research interests include American institutions and processes; public administration; political psychology, sociology and ideology; and the critical application of psychoanalytic theory in the study of politics. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and also has published in such academic publications as The Journal of Politics and The American Political Science Review.

Grube is active in several national and international organizations, and also serves on many community and state boards. He is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Sigma Alpha, Phi Alpha Theta, Phi Beta Delta, and the Golden Key honor societies. His professional associations include: the American Association for Higher Education, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and its Committee on Academic Affairs, the American Association of University Administrators, and the American Council on Education. Grube is a member of the NCAA Division I Board of Directors, Chair of the NCAA Division I Presidential Advisory Group, and a member of the NCAA Executive Committee.
