Bruce Gentry (comic strip)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bruce Gentry was an aviation adventure comic strip by Ray Bailey, syndicated by The New York Post. It first appeared in newspapers on March 25, 1945. The art was similar in style to that of Milton Caniff, whom artist Bailey had assisted on Terry and the Pirates. The Bruce Gentry series was not a long-term success, ending on January 6, 1951 with Gentry marrying his sweetheart Cleo Patric.[1]
From 1948 to 1949, Four Star Publications and Superior Publishers, Ltd. combined to put out eight issues of a Bruce Gentry reprint comic book. [2]
There was also a Bruce Gentry movie serial in 1949, based on Bailey's comic strip.
