Bruce Allen is a New England based sports media critic and publisher. He is the owner of Bruce Allen Media L.L.C., operating in New Hampshire. He writes a monthly media column for Patriots Football Weekly,and a weekly sports column for Boston Metro.
Allen founded Boston Sports Media Watch in April of 2002. Each weekday morning, an extensive post appears around 8:00 am which is a roundup of all the sports stories from newspapers all around New England. He also offers commentary on the local sports media, and recaps of sports programming on the airwaves.
Boston Sports Media Watch received national attention in February of 2005 when it exposed the plagiarism of then Worcester Telegram & Gazette New England Patriots beat writer Ken Powers The site was mentioned in The New York Times and other top outlets as the scandal grew. Allen also wrote the column on BSMW that exposed a false story by the Boston Dirt Dogs webpage, which is owned by Boston.com.
More recently, in 2007, Allen along with Scott Benson created Patriots Daily - a site designed to take advantage of the latest blogging and social media tools to bring fans of the New England Patriots the latest information on the team and give them a chance to discuss that information as well.
