Clearing an autoblock

Due to the nature of the block applied we need additional information before we can decide whether to unblock you. It is very likely that you are not personally blocked. If you are prevented from editing, it may be because you are autoblocked or blocked because of your IP address. Without further details there is nothing further we can do to review or lift your block. Please follow these instructions:

  1. If you have a Wikipedia account, please ensure that you are logged in.
Your account name will be visible in the top right of this page if you are.
If it isn't, try bypassing your web browser's cache.
  2. Try to edit the Sandbox.
  3. If you are still blocked, copy the {{unblock-ip|...}} code generated for you under the "IP blocked?" section. This is usually hidden within the "What do I do now?" section. If so, just click the "[show]" link to the right hand side to show this text.
  4. Paste the code at the bottom of your user talk page and click save.

If you are not blocked from editing the sandbox then the autoblock on your IP address has already expired and you can resume editing. --  Netsnipe  ►  16:19, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling

Yes, mate, I would like to be your "spelling and grammar person". I am going to go on the limb and assume that you don't know English too well. Either way, I'd be more then happy to help you. --Strannik 17:38, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Bad spelling and being over-enthusiastic about the Marvel Age comics is a bad combination. I'm going to do some major changes to those comic book pages you've been messing with, and I'm asking you to stop turning everything into lists and to stop adding commercial information. We don't need to give free publicity to Marvel Digest TPBs. --Pc13 20:26, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

Hi, Brown Shoes22, Welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tasks you can do:

I hope you like this place--I sure do--and want to stay. If you need help on how to title new articles check out Wikipedia:Naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and The FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check The Village pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or The Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on My User talk Page.

Additional Tips:

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username.
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.

Happy Wiki-ing! ~~ tonei the genderqueer alaskan

[edit] Learn how to spell!

For Pete's sake, please save us the trouble of having to clean up after you. Your spelling is atrocious and your sentence building disjointed. Every article you ever started or modified, either in this identity or as the anonymous User:24.70.95.203 had to be cleaned-up by somebody else, including me. You claim you like reading, but nobody who reads as a hobby makes the kind of mistakes you make, unless you learned to read a short while ago. I urge you to really read a lot. Books, newspapers, magazines. The more you read the better you'll write. But right now your writing is terrible. So, please, stop for now and come back later. --Pc13 18:49, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

BrownShoes22 is dyslexic. DarkSoldier 02:11, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

Yes, OK, but what should we think of an entry in Elektra (comics) like this? With all respect to BrownShoes' impairment, this should really not stand in an article.

Elektra Natchios was freshman year at Columbia University. Start bring a killer for the Kingpin deal with his cousins, Paul and Leonder, who are in organized crime, so that he can rebuild the family's laundromat

Friendly piece of advice: do you have a friend that could pre-check your entries? -- Onomatopoeia 14:37, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

Why did you create a separate page for the Ultimate Fantastic Four synopsis? Not only they could have stayed on the main page, they could stand to be made smaller. --Pc13 10:49, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Young Avengers adding of superteambox

Hi there,

In adding the superteambox or whatever it's called for Young Avengers, you've wiped out the info that Asgardian and Hulkling are based on/perhaps connected to Thor and the Hulk, respectively. The box thingee is neat but I feel like that info should be preserved somehow.

Joeyconnick 04:01, 2005 May 11 (UTC)

[edit] Points to remember

  1. Don't create articles which are just lists. Even "List of..." articles have introductions.
  2. Don't add <BR> tags in the text.
  3. Don't use redundant stubs. There is no point, rhyme or reason to put both {{comics-stub}} AND {{Marvel-Comics-stub}} on the same article. --SoM 22:09, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
Same here. Stop adding BR tags and stop adding every little tidbit of information without context. Ah, what's the use, you don't read your own talk! --Pc13 12:09, 2005 May 17 (UTC)
  4. Don't add Template:comics-stub and Template:comiccover without reason. For one, Template:comiccover should only be used on Image pages, not in articles. Also, several of the articles you tagged as comics-stubs, were over 10k! --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 20:01, May 18, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Please don't remove content from Talk: pages

Please don't remove content from Talk: pages. It's very impolite to edit other people's comments. Kelly Martin 05:26, May 26, 2005 (UTC)

I've removed the issues list from Supreme Power and Doctor Spectrum. See here why. --Pc13 17:57, 2005 Jun 5 (UTC)

In regards to the removal of the whole "Joe Ledger's mother is a prostitute" paragraph, it's because it didn't add anything of value to the character description. It was just details irrelevant to the story. If you want to add anything copy and paste this _____ Joe Ledger's mother was a prostitute and his step-father abused him physically. This scarred emotionally and explains why his methods are so cold and calculist. _______ Add it to the Doctor Spectrum page, not the Supreme Power page. Pc13 17:00, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
I've changed the Supreme Power text to accomodate as many of your changes as possible. Please don't just add details without context in the middle of the sentences. It gets annoying to correct it over and over again. Next time I'll just revert and not bother to rewrite. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with your proposal for Arc III. --Pc13 18:58, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

Stop creating pages for every member of the Runaways. You're just duplicating content. --Pc13 09:33, 2005 Jun 25 (UTC)

I've changed the Runaways member pages back to redirects. Stop duplicating information. The Chase Stein has already been considered for deletion and the result of the vote was to change it to a redirect. --Pc13 July 8, 2005 17:52 (UTC)

BrownShoes- I've gone ahead and speedied your article at Secret War (comics). In the future, if you want to help, don't just create sub-stub articles and expect other people to finish them for you. Your message on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics was just rude. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) June 29, 2005 04:43 (UTC)

BrownShoes, we just warned you about doing this, and you're doing it again at Ultimates Annual, Ultimate X-Men Annual, Ultimate Spider-Man Annual, and Ultimate Fantastic Four Annual; these articles are not only of extremely debatable notability, but have almost no content. I also don't appreciate that you are unhelpfully contesting the policy voted on at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics#Ultimates' Naming on each individual Ultimate character's talk page instead of on this page as I have indicated you to do several times. Please respond at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics#User:Brown Shoes22. If you continue to act in this fashion without discussing it there first and responding to the complaints, drastic action will have to be taken. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 18:27, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

Stop inserting headers to the top of the articles. Headers are for sections, and should be used only after the introductory text. Besides, "creation of character" is hardly appropriate for the introduction. --Pc13 18:31, July 30, 2005 (UTC)

Please do not add {{delete}} to articles that do not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, especially if the deletion notice has been removed with an explanation. Gwalla | Talk 05:29, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rising Stars

I've rolled back your recent edits to Rising Stars as copyvio. You blatantly lifted paragraphs from the site http://worldsofjms.com/rs/synopses. Please stop. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 20:08, August 8, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Runaways

Hi, when you turned Runaways (comics) (issues) into a redirect to Runaways (comics), did you copy any content from the first one to the target? (I need to know for Wikipedia copyright issues.) Thanks!

PS: I don't usually check other User_talk: pages (so that I don't have to monitor a whole long list of User_Talk: pages - one for each person with whom I am having a "conversation"), so please leave any messages for me on my talk page (above); if you leave a message for me here I probably will not see it. I know not everyone uses this style (they would rather keep all the text of a thread in one place), but I simply can't monitor all the User_talk: pages I leave messages on. Thanks!

[edit] Ultimate Mary Jane

Stop removing Mary Jane Watson from "girlfriend" in Ultimate Spider-Man. Not only is that understood as status quo for Spider-Man, it's also predictable the two will get back together soon. --Pc13 17:45, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Blur

"Blue" with one "r", first of all.

The Blur does not belong in a category for the superhero The Whizzer, having never used that name. He's simply other Marvel super-speedster, and no other superhero entry lumps together, say, all archers under Hawkeye. And there certainly shouldn't be a Blur picture in an image sidebar that refers to the Whizzer's first appearance in USA Comics #1, etc. -- the two charactes are completely unrelated. Moving Blur to his own entry, and remming-out image box until a proper Whizzer/USA Comics/etc. image can go in its place.e. Please do not revert to the inaccurate version without discussion. -- Tenebrae 23:57, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane and others

Please remember that the goal of wikipedia is to provide in-depth but succint information to all readers. For this reason, updating pages with endless issue summaries that include every single detail of every issue is not the goal of wikipedia. We want pages to have the essential and basic information on stories so that anyone can read them and get a general sense of the story. We don't want trivia or minutae cluttering up the wikis; imagine if five years later, the wiki for Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane had summaries as long as the one you just wrote for every single issue. There are other websites online that can offer people in-depth summaries of every issue; if you feel that this is important, add one of those other sites as an external link.

This comment also applies to your summaries on pages such as Runaways and All-Star Batman and Robin. We appreciate your devotion to these pages, but plot summaries are meant to be short and focused on only the essential facts. As it says in the Wikipedia:Summary style, "many readers need just a quick summary of the topic's most important points." Thank you. Pitr 09:35, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Future comics tags

When you add a tag for a future or current comic, please put the tag at the top of the article or section, not at the bottom. Thank you. Pitr 18:53, 8 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Spider-Man Comics category

There is already a category for this at Category:Spider-Man titles and the Spider-Man comics category has been nominated for deletion. If you have titles to add, please add them to the currently existing category. Thank you. Pitr 10:10, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Whiteface

... holy shit. You're right, he's a take on the Joker; I've read the issues in question, and that absolutely didn't occur to me. DS 13:28, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] All-star / All Star: Hyphen or not?

OK, before anyone goes changing things, the current 2005 imprint DOES NOT have any hyphens (All Star NOT All-star). The original series from the 1940s for the most part DOES carry the hyphen (although they weren't anal about it, so it may not always appear). So please don't alter my changes on this to All-star (disambiguation), All Star Batman and Robin, All Star Superman, All Star Comics and All Star DC Comics. That means you too, Brown Shoes22!! We are fellow Edmontonians and have to stick together. Dyslexic agnostic 08:00, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Italics

Just a tip, italics shouldn't be used for people's names, as you've done in the article for Hard Time. In fact, the only time Italics should really be used in Wikipedia is for the titles of books or films. Thanks. Pitr 17:10, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Date formatting

Please note that according to Wikipedia's guidelinies regarding date formatting, "simple months, years, decades and centuries should only be linked if there is a strong reason for doing so." These should only be linked if they're part of a full date with day & month, as in December 28, 2005. If they occure alone, just December or just 2005 or just December 2005, they shouldn't be linked.--Fritz S. (Talk) 10:31, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Careful

When you created the article on Monster Girl from Invincible, you forgot to include any context whatsoever. So the article got deleted, and then when you recreated it, it got deleted again, and then it got set as a "protected deletion" to prevent anyone from re-creating it.

You're lucky I'm an admin who not only was curious enough to check the deleted edits, but is also a comics fan who read that particular issue; otherwise I would have thought "what is this?", and just left it deleted.

I've re-created the article with context. DS 00:45, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Arcanna.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. [edit] Ultimate Galactus trilogy

I'm confused. Is this article about a five-issue series called Ultimate Nightmare, a trilogy named Ultimate Gah-Lak-Tus trilogy, or a trilogy named Ultimate Galactus Trilogy? And why was the creation of a very large article marked as a minor edit? SB_Johnny | talk 00:03, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ultimate Galactus trilogy

Hi, merging articles into one doesn't mean that the merged articles can be tagged for speedy deletion. To remain GFDL compliant, the article histories need to be kept. If the matter is uncontroversial, you can just change the articles into redirects into the larger article afterwards, but they will not get deleted. Thanks. - Bobet 16:01, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your unblock request

Hi Brown Shoes22, please copy and paste your entire block message so I can look at it. Evidence suggests that you were blocked using the Autoblock tool, which blocks the underlying IP address of another blocked-user, so I believe you were accidentally blocked when that other use was blocked. I need your block message so I can further examine your case and unblock you if necessary. Thanks, Deathphoenix ʕ 15:56, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

  • I need to know your exact block message, not just the IP address. More than likely, it will read something like "Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by user_name". I need to know user_name so I can do a search in autoblock logs. Thanks, Deathphoenix ʕ 02:44, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Master Menace - numbering

Hi, I'd removed the (I) and (II) from the two versions of Master Menace because Wikipedia:Naming conventions (comics) says "NEVER disambiguate using Roman numerals unless the character or comic actually uses them in the text (in the case of a character) or the comic title (e.g. Death's Head II). This extends to the text of the articles, in addition to the article titles.". (The bold text in this quote is theirs, not mine). Accordingly, it's going to get deleted again sooner or later - we need to find a better way to distinguish between the two characters, especially now that Supreme Power's been renamed. --Mrph 10:48, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Brown Shoes22. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:BOOKLS005 BWCOV.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Brown Shoes22. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 06:58, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Arcanna.gif

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Arcanna.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 08:39, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:HARD_TIME_SEASON_TWO_400x600.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:HARD_TIME_SEASON_TWO_400x600.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 00:34, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Whiteface_Comics.jpg

I have tagged Image:Whiteface_Comics.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 00:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Machine_Teen_preview.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Machine_Teen_preview.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 00:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:39557 20060811221139 large.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Thank you. Phil Sandifer 04:25, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Bad Boy Trouble Cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bad Boy Trouble Cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:49, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I Am Legend

You added a ref for Y the Last Man. I asked the anon who originally added that but got no reply - is this explicitly a reference (eg does BKV say so)? The title connection is very weak since I Am Woman is a well-known feminist anthem. Is there better evidence in the issue, or interviews? Bazzargh (talk) 20:53, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edmonton meetup

Hello - I'm contacting you with this message because you have listed youself in Category:Wikipedians in Edmonton. I am investigating the possibility of creating a Wikipedia meetup in Edmonton for sometime during the spring or summer of 2008. If you're interested, please visit Wikipedia:Meetup/Edmonton, add yourself to the list of interested editors, and watchlist the page. Cheers, Sarcasticidealist (talk) 23:44, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Dynamo5 cover 500w.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:Dynamo5 cover 500w.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Never mind. The other image was deleted instead. Cheers, GentlemanGhost (talk) 20:00, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
