"Franchises", Brooklyn Daily Eagle, October 22, 1877, p. 2.  has some history. --NE2 23:27, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

The Greenpoint Line opened to North 2nd Street on August 26, 1854.[1]

[edit] 1919 split

The Brooklyn City Railroad split from the Brooklyn Heights Railroad on October 19, 1919, taking 28 lines with it (according to [1]). The Brooklyn and Queens Transit Corporation took over operations on July 1, 1929.

Here I attempt to list these 28 lines by eliminating shuttles and other duplicates. --NE2 09:53, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

This is a total of 30. --NE2 09:53, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
