I like this "real" taxobox - very smart. Yet another Oz group I've never heard of! jimfbleak

Ahh, wonderful birds. And infuriating! I'll add a little more about their advertising call in a little while. On a scale out of ten, they get 1 point for imagination and 11 points for perserverance! On and on and on and on, endlessly whooo, whooo, whooo, every three or four seconds without the slightest variation. My friend has both Common and Brush Bronzwings. You can hear them from a great distance. Of the people in my friend's street (10 acre blocks, mostly timbered) one couple had always thought it was a bit of agricultural machinery that made that noise on hot, still days and vaguely thought about complaining to someone, another couple thought it must be a backing horn from a fork-lift or something. And to be fair, until you get used to it, it doesn't sound remotely like a bird call. I couldn't find a recording anywhere, but go down top your nearest construction site and listen to the warning horn on the machinery. That will be close enough! picture here Tannin
