It is nothing personal against the drink. :-) This article has been classified as a micro-stub, which is a WikiProject Cocktails term for an article that has little or no useful information that stands on its own. Articles that contain nothing except simple recipes to make the drinks are considered to be micro-stubs. This article is barely a decent paragraph in length, there are no references or sources to any information about the drink, and compared to even other stub articles, it's pretty pathetic in its current state. You might be able to help with that, though:
- Provide some basic history of the drink. This information needs to be properly cited and attributed -- the more prominent the source, the better (a source like the New York Times would be excellent). Original research, such as you visiting bars and talking to bartenders, is generally against policies, though it may be personally helpful to gain background information to help you search for non-original research to include in the article. (Hopefully that makes sense.)
- Provide some notability information. Since Wikipedia is an international encyclopedia, it is good to include entries that have broad international appeal. That does not mean that a highly notable local drink (especially in a large city like New York, as you point out) cannot be included. It just means that the notability standards are likely to be a little tougher. Answering the question of "if it's so notable, why hasn't it spread elsewhere?" is what you should attempt to do.
- Take a picture. "A picture is worth 1000 words," they say. Articles with pictures, sometimes, but not always, stand a better chance of survival even if the article is somewhat substandard. The best thing to do is to write a good article, and use the photo as the finishing touch. By taking a picture, I mean head on down to your local Bronx watering hole with a camera, and snap a reasonably good picture. Don't steal pictures from other sources, as they will probably be deleted for copyright violation.
- Expanding the article's length to three paragraphs would probably bring the article up to a stub status. Four or five good paragraphs of information would probably qualify as an expand. If you can build it up beyond that, you'd have a full-fledged article, maybe even good enough to be nominated as a feature article.

- Having just discovered that this is an IBA Official Cocktail, I decided to reverse my earlier decision to classify this drink as a micro stub subject to deletion after integration elsewhere pending additional research. Since it is a well known drink outside of New York (as evidenced by the IBA designation), there should be enough referencable material available to create a decent article. If not, then by the end of February, I will proceed with the earlier plans of integration and deletion as a micro stub. --Willscrlt 04:24, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
