Talk:Broadcasting of sports events

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

To-do list for Broadcasting of sports events:

Add:

  • PayTV companies buying all the rights (eg. Sky with football)
  • sporting associations starting up their own channels (eg. Formula 1, MUTV)
  • postponing regular programming to make way for a sporting event
  • any other specific controversies
  • history of sports coverage
  • major sporting events that draw a large audience

Expand:

  • Dedicated sports channels

Other:

Is this still up-to-date? The list of network breakdowns would also fit nicely on my article, Sports television: broadcast contracts. Anybody want to expand on it? Lambertman 14:35, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ideas for future edits

Earlier, an editor was about to do what I'm going to suggest, but he seems to have vanished. I was considering moving the sports-by-network listing out of here into either (a) the existing Sports television: broadcast contracts article, which already has similar lists for the USA and Canada; or (b) creating sub-pages for each country TV sports Contracts: North America, TV sports contracts: United Kingdom, et al. I would also recommend a title change for this article to a cleaner TV sports - or anything else that might read a little easier than "Broadcasting of sports events" and that would allow for easy subpages for each nation's individual lists of TV rights. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Lambertman 13:50, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
