- It was probably made by a Wikipedian (or Nupedian) and GFDL'ed. But it could be swiped off another site. I say we do a thorough search for evidence of chicanery, and tag it GFDL if it passes our gauntlet. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 21:36, Feb 2, 2005 (UTC)

- I'm pretty sure you have to be the copyright holder(or for them to have licensed it compatibly) in order to FDL something. Boffy b 19:21, 2005 Feb 8 (UTC)
- Right, that's exactly what this discussion is about: if the image is self-made and was uploaded by its creator and copyright-holder, then by virtue of having uploaded it to Wikipedia they agreed to license it under the GFDL. I've tagged many images as GFDL when the image description indicated that the uploader was the copyright holder. --MarkSweep 19:38, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
