Browns is a department store group with stores in Helmsley and York. Browns have been trading for more than 100 years. The business continues to be family run.

They have over 100 departments ranging from Menswear and Cosmetics to Hairstylists and Carpets. The York store includes "Browns Teahouse" and "Rhodes Cafe and Restaurant".

Browns have recently started offering a "Gold Card" or a store based credit card.

The York store is the larger of the two and is located in Davygate, York. The Helmsley store is located in Market Place. A third store in Beverley is due to open in Summer 2009.
