The term Brown Energy has also be coined as energy produced from polluting sources. This is in contrast to Green energy from renewable, non-polluting sources.[1]

Another company with the brown energy title, C.J. Brown Energy, P.C. is a Buffalo-based professional engineering firm specializing in energy use, conservation, and management.[3]
