Brown Mackie College – Tucson in Tucson, Arizona, is a member of the Brown Mackie College system of schools, a collection of private, for-profit educational institutions for career preparation in the business, legal, health sciences, information technology, and creative fields. The Brown Mackie College system of schools has 18 locations in eight states throughout the Midwestern, southeastern, and southwestern United States, and has a total enrollment of 9,078 students (as of fall 2006). The Brown Mackie College schools are owned by Education Management Corporation, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Brown Mackie College — Tucson was founded in 1972 as Chaparral College, a career college focusing on programs in secretarial sciences as well as accounting and marketing. In 1994, the College began awarding associate’s degrees. Then two years later, to meet a growing demand, the College began offering bachelor’s degrees.
