Brown Mackie College – Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, is a member of the Brown Mackie College system of schools, a collection of private, for-profit educational institutions for career preparation in the business, legal, health sciences, information technology, and creative fields. The Brown Mackie College system of schools has 18 locations in eight states throughout the Midwestern, southeastern, and southwestern United States, and has a total enrollment of 9,078 students (as of fall 2006). Brown Mackie College — Louisville was formerly known as RETS Institute of Technology. In 2003, Education Management Corporation acquired RETS Institute of Technology. In 2004, as a result of changes to its programs and the transition from a school offering occupational associate’s degree programs to a school awarding academic associate’s degrees, the name of the school was changed.

Brown Mackie College — Louisville is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award associate’s degrees, certificates, and diplomas. ACICS is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education. Its accreditation of degree granting institutions is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
