Broughton High School is in north Edinburgh, Scotland. It is a local authority school, internationally acclaimed[citation needed] for its excellent music department: the City of Edinburgh Music School. It is currently next to Inverleith Park but was formerly in Broughton proper, where poet Hugh MacDiarmid taught.

The school's motto 'Fortier et Recte' is Latin for 'to have the strength to do the right thing'
