Broomhill, Glasgow

Broomhill is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow, in the West End. It is situated north of the River Clyde, although it is not on that river. It is bounded by Thornwood and Partick to the south, Hyndland to the east, Jordanhill to the north.
The main streets in the district are Crow Road and Broomhill Drive. The latter has a small shopping centre with services including; a Spar mini-market, Pizza Shop, laundrette, DVD rental shop, betting shop and chemist. Transport to the area is supported by bus services and the nearby train stations of Jordanhill railway station and Hyndland railway station. There are also two churches and a primary school.

Broomhill Primary School is the primary school which serves the local area. The school is controlled by Glasgow City Council. The facilities consist of two buildings - the 'annexe' which houses the younger children and the main building which has classrooms for the older members of the school.
The school has an excellent reputation and provides a stream of pupils for two local secondary schools - Hyndland Secondary and Jordanhill College School.

There are a large number of shops, off-licences and hair-dressers & barbers in the area, mainly based on Crow Road and Broomhill Drive. There are also several cafes/restaurants in the locale, including some licensed to sell alcohol. On Crow Road there is also a driving school called Happy Hour.
The main church in the area is Broomhill Church, founded in 1899 and home to several community organisations including Brownies, Guides and the 130th Glasgow B.B.
There is also an Army Cadet Force detachment in Crow Road, 'A' Troop Royal Artillery. This troop has a very successful army cadet section that has won many national competitions, lead by Alec Stirling.
Broomhill is also home to 62 (2nd Glasgow) Sqaudron of the Air Training Corps, one of the largest and most successful sqaudrons in the Glasgow and West of Scotland Wing

Broomhill has a variety of housing throughout the district. Tenements feature predominantly but there are also areas of terraced and semi-detached housing in the area, as well as a number of blocks of high-rise flats.
