Broomball at Michigan Tech
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The largest intramural sports program at Michigan Technological University is IRHC Broomball governed by the Intra-Residency Hall Council. In 2008 over 1900 students participated on 200 teams. During Make A Difference Day weekend three rinks are erected on campus along US-41.
[edit] Rules
Unlike broomball played elsewhere the game is played on rinks that are approximately 75 feet long by 51 feet wide as apposed to a full hockey rink. Teams consist of five players in addition to a goaltender. Players are required to fashion their own brooms, instead of manufactured broomball brooms, out of ordinary straw brooms. [1]
