Brookhaven is an unincorporated area located in Dekalb County, Georgia, directly north of Buckhead. It is roughly bounded by Sandy Springs, Georgia to the west, Chamblee to the Northeast, I-285 to the north, and the Atlanta city limits to the south.
Recently, Brookhaven has seen an influx of new development, including infill housing in the Ashford Park, Brittany, and Lynwood neighborhoods. Sembler recently began construction of the mixed-use project Brookhaven Village, off of Peachtree Road on the site of former public housing complexes. In addition, a new strip of retail and residential is being constructed on Dresden Drive. There is also new residential development along Ashford-Dunwoody Road, next to Blackburn Park, also on the site of a former public housing complex. Due to the increasing price of homes in Buckhead, many young people have chosen to live in Brookhaven instead for its relative affordability and close proximity to many amenities.
Brookhaven is home to two golf courses, the Capital City Club--listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the country's oldest residential golf community--and Peachtree Golf Club.
