[edit] Current Events and Controversy
Recently, the administration has come under fire for disallowing exam exemptions for the 2007-2008 school year. This longstanding reward for students with A's and less than 5 excused absences in a given class was overturned, with students claiming they were given little to no input. The school noted a need for more records for classes but students claim they were not given adequate details or reasons as to why. Brookfield East High School, its sister school, has never had an exam exemption policy, making it unique to Central.
[edit] Music
The band, chorus, and orchestra groups of BCHS are quite critically acclaimed. They have played at venues ranging from the DisneyWorld Magic Kingdom Parade, Toronto, and London.
- In the Spring of 2007, the combined Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra participated in the National Orchestra and Band Festival in New York to play in Carnegie Hall.
- In March 2008, the BCHS band traveled to Los Angeles and San Diego.
- Recently, the BCHS Chamber Choir won the first annual 99.1 WMYX Christmas Choir Competition.
