Brook Community Primary School is located within the London Borough of Hackney.[1] It is a Fresh Start school which opened in April 2005. It replaced the previously failing Amherst Primary School, situated on the same site.
The school serves a richly multicultural and diverse community in the Hackney Downs and Dalston areas of Hackney.
The school has been subject to regular inspections by Her Majesty's Inspector of Schools throughout the Fresh Start process. In 2007, Brook underwent a Section 5 inspection where inspectors found the school to be making good progress.
The Headteacher, Rebecca Thomas, joined the school in 2005 and has successfully led and overseen the process.
