Bronwyn Lea

Bronwyn Lea (born 1969) is a contemporary Australian poet, academic and editor.

Born in Tasmania, Bronwyn Lea grew up in Queensland and Papua New Guinea, moving to San Diego to study at California State University.[1] She has completed a PhD at University of Queensland and currently teaches there in the School of English, Media Studies and Art History.

Lea's first collection of poems, Flight Animals, won the 2002 Wesley Michel Wright Prize for Poetry and Fellowship of Australian Writers Anne Elder Award. It was also short-listed for the 2002 John Bray Poetry Award Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature, Colin Roderick Award, Judith Wright Calanthe Award for Poetry and Kenneth Slessor Prize for Poetry.

She is also Series Editor, with Martin Duwell, of The Best Australian Poetry series, published annually by the University of Queensland Press and a member of the Literature Board of the Australia Council.[2]
