Bronisław Chromy

Bronisław Chromy (born 1925) is a Polish sculptor, medallist, painter, and draughtsman, and a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Chromy is a Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Letters. He was born at Lencze near Lanckorona in 1925, he was educated at the Secondary School of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, graduating in 1956. He was a student of Xawery Dunikowski.
His works are in the collections of the Warsaw National Museum, Kraków National Museum, Museum of Medal Art in Wrocław and Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum, Paris, Copenhagen, Moscow, Skopje, Helsinki, Barcelona, Dijon, Ravenna, Hasselt, Bochum, Arezzo.
The most famous his work are: "Smok Wawelski" (The Wawel Dragon), "Monument to Piwnica pod Baranami" (Cracow), "Dżok - the Dog" (Cracow), "Monument to Pope John Paul II" (Tarnów), "Auschwitz series": "The wall of death" and "Pieta".
He is one of the Co-founder of Piwnica pod Baranami cabaret.
Professor Bronisław Chromy has his own Gallery in Cracow (in Decjusz Park).
