Broadway Junction (Brooklyn)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Broadway Junction is a multi-use neighborhood in northeastern Brooklyn, defined by Broadway to the north, Atlantic Avenue to the south, Rockaway Avenue to the west, and Van Sinderen Avenue to the east. [1]

Broadway Junction was originally known as Jamaica Pass, a name that became famous in colonial times as the route the British Army took to travel between southern Brooklyn and Gowanus during the Battle of Long Island [1] .

The name refers to the junction of two Long Island Railroad lines, the Canarsie, Jamaica, and Fulton Street subway lines, Atlantic Avenue; East New York Avenue; Broadway; Jamaica Avenue; Fulton Street; and several smaller streets. Nearby is the Cemetery of the Evergreens, and Highland Park [1].
