Broadwave

Broadwave is a streaming audio server project created by NCH Software initially released in July 2006. It is a "one to one" or "one to many" application, similar to an Internet radio stream.

Broadwave serves live or pre-recorded audio over the internet (audio webcast) via the http protocol in mp3.
It relies on Windows, Mac or Linux using the default media player installed and automatically downsamples audio for lower bitrate 'listens' on slow dial-up connections.

Other formats are supported. Internal audio compression allows the application to handle the multiple file formats when loaded as static files.
