[edit] post grunge

a whole muscial genre can not be defined by somebody simply saying i was influenced by pearl jam or soundgarden than they get labled post grunge,i mean the group click five said they are influenced by the beatles so does that make them post bristish invasion rock 40 something years later every musical genre needs to have a beginging and an end???????? there is no similarity between the calling and nirvana i mean i heard kelly clarkson say she was influenced by led zeplin so is she some sort of derivetive of there music hell no,Most post grunge bands came out in the early and mid 90's when alternative music was huge here are some real post grunge bands, collective soul, candlebox, bush,Live. Now here are some bands that mistakely get lumped into the catagory of post grunge the calling, nickelback, third eye blind, matchbox 20,lifehouse, i will challenge any of these bands tobeing called post grunge excepte for matchbox 20 and third eye blind because they did come out in the 90's but they also maintained a great level of succeses during the late 90's when bububle gum pop became massive and was the main popular music of the late 90's, but as you can see many of the bands that i mention earlier as true post grunge bands they had relative little if any success after 1997 because by 1998 postgrunge/alternative rock(post grunge is just another name for alternative rock) was dead it was not popular anymore because teen pop had taken over by 1998 and the rock bands adopted a plain and simple pop rock sound here is definition of pop rock(Pop rock is a subgenre of pop music that uses catchy pop style, with light lyrics over top of guitar-based songs. Scholars have noted that pop and rock are usually depicted as opposites; the detractors of pop often deride it as a slickly-commercial commodity, whereas rock is an authentic and sincere form of music)now pick up the alnlum by collective soul from 1995 than pick up the ablum by the calling from 2001 and listen to the lyrics you will see a clear difference though post grunge is just watered down grunge it still had more serious and more edgey lyrics and sound plus the vast majority of post grunge bands that came out in the early and mid 90's never sited bands like soundgarden or alice in chains as influences they sited much older bands like led zeplin or rolling stones as influences--Wikiscribe (talk) 17:59, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
