Do you know if the article Peter Tyrrell Flawn should be moved to Peter T. Flawn? I haven't really seen any articles with the middle name written out like that. -WarthogDemon 21:02, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Block

Hello. I have blocked editing from this account for Disruption on HTC Wizard. Basically we have resumed edit warring after the protection has expired. Please use the talk page for content disputes rather than reverting each others changes. To contest this block use the {{unblock|your reason here}} template on this page. Regards, Navou banter 04:04, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

{{tl:unblock|Despite several attempts at discussion in the talk page, the other user refuses to participate. Ironically, the anonymous user claims that any revert of his edits should be discussed, however he never participates. The only alternative I have is to revert the edit because this has already been discussed several times and there is a consensus among the other wikipedians that this shouldn't be there. I really want to discuss this, and have done so, but I can't help that the other user refuses to participate. }}

[edit] Regarding Third Opinions

Hi. Wikipedia:Third opinion is probably not the proper avenue for revolving your dispute with 122.160.82.88 regarding HTC Wizard, since more than two editors seem to be involved already and since the primary problem is that one of the involved editors is refusing to discuss the situation. As the page indicates, third opinion "requires good faith and civility on both sides of the dispute", and unfortunately you don't seem to have that. :/ I have left a message for the user at User talk:122.160.82.88 advising of our policies on Wikipedia:consensus and tendentious editing and requesting that he or she discuss these changes on the talk page before implementing them. If he persists without an effort to establish consensus, you may wish to follow the recommended steps at disruptive editing by considering Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts or Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User conduct. (The requisite steps to follow prior to pursuing that are listed here.) Good luck with resolving this. --Moonriddengirl 15:50, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help on Windows Mobile needed ...

Dear Brian, we have some discussions with one wiki moderator and need help from independent Windows Mobile expert. May I ask you one question - what are popular Windows Mobile websites that you know? Thank you, Victor —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shab victor (talkcontribs) 18:12, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

If we're talking about appropriate External links to include, we should look at Wikipedia's guidelines on external links sections. From these guidelines, we know that External links should be kept to a minimum. Thus, just because a site is popular, doesn't mean it should necessarily be included. Where is this discussion taking place? Which links are in question? Thanks! Brianreading 21:10, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:UH Fight Song.ogg)

Thanks for uploading Image:UH Fight Song.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:23, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I could participate :) WhisperToMe 06:32, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE: WikiProject University of Houston

Sure, I would be interested in participating. I think the most important thing is to define the scope of this project. Do we want a project for the University of Houston or the University of Houston System. If we decide on just University of Houston, then the project should clearly define that and guidelines should be set to state that other articles related to UH–Clear Lake, UH–Downtown, or UH–Victoria are not part of the scope. I prefer a project just for the University of Houston, but also see that this will be problematic as other editors will argue that three other UH System institutions should be part of the project as well since they bear "University of Houston" in their name.

I guess before moving forward, we need to decide what to call the project in accordance with the scope:

WikiProject University of Houston or WikiProject University of Houston System.

I think you should post on the talk pages of Houston and Texas so other editors will be aware of this proposed project.

I read your userpage and noticed that you went to Clements HS! I went and graduated from there as well.

RJN 18:06, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I'd prefer a University of Houston only project also, but I certainly see your point! However, I'd honestly think it'd be a better idea to deal with those cases of editors trying to include the rest of the UH System in the scope on an individual basis. My reasoning for this stems from the fact that I don't believe we'll get a lot of these editors often because the other UH System school articles are seldom edited. So, with your willingness to join a UH project, I will get started on creating one. However, I will heed your advice and post on the talk pages for UH, Houston, and Texas. This will allow for more exposure of this project to those who would be interested but otherwise wouldn't know.
Clements was surely a great high school to graduate from. I'm proud to have my diploma from there.
Brianreading 19:26, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Sounds great! My only concern is that someone will start tagging all UH System articles with the WikiProject University of Houston template. I wouldn't want to get into an edit war over this by removing them and having to explain that other three UH System institutions are not branch/extension campuses of UH.
When did you graduated from CHS? I graduated in 2002 from CHS and 12/2006 from UH. —RJN 21:26, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
I guess somewhere on the project page, we'll have to include a little tidbit about the scope for the project. That way, we can always refer back to something that existed before the editor started making changes. It's part of good WikiProject etiquette after all to have a well-defined scope.
Anyway, yeah. I gradated from Clements in 2003, so it looks like you were a year ahead of me. I'm planning on graduating from UH around late '08 or mid '09. —Brianreading 21:42, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Brian, Thanks for the invitation to join the UH project. At this time I'm not sure I can put a lot of energy into this effort, but I will definitly watch the project page and may jump in to a few articles I spot needing work. Thank you for organizing this and putting time into the UH articles. I used to watch the UH pages closely but was turned off a bit when someone came through and nominated every image for deletion. I'll try to get interested again. --Rgb9000 16:39, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Brianreading

Brian, I am sorry to inform you that I have closed your RfA as an unsuccessful snowball closure: there was an 8:1 ratio against the request at the time of processing. However, don't be downhearted by this: I can assure you that your contributions are both highly welcome and valued—many editors have failed their first request for adminship, only to sail through later and become well-respected administrators. I don't know how much more "sources" you need for alumni like Devin Brown whos jersey is hanging in the fucking convo, how much more do you fucking need for something like that?

[edit] UTSA

I don't know how much more "sources" you need for alumni like Devin Brown whos jersey is hanging in the convo, how much more do you need for something like that?

Someone running across a Wikipedia article doesn't know things like that. Putting things up that are contentious based on personal experience constitutes as original research. If these alumni are in fact from UTSA, it should be simple to find that written in an independent source somewhere. Luckily, another user has done this for you, and it has made the article much more credible now. By the way, I'm a UTSA alum too, so I'm not just picking on UTSA. Brianreading (talk) 14:20, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Yo sorry for that response, I left my computer turned on and somebody (my friend) decided to abuse it trying to be funny or cute, I already talked to him about doing this crap. I did originally made the changes to the site but did not reply to your message in fact I did not know about this message sent to you until I logged on and saw your message to me.
