[edit] General
My Dying Wish is a rock band from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2005, My Dying Wish has grown to regional success in a short period of time. Their style of music is a unique blend of alternative, pop punk, and rock. My Dying Wish released a 5 song self-titled EP and launched their and merchandise line in 2006, but remains unsigned, as of March 2007. The band will begin an east coast tour in May of 2007.
[edit] Background:
It was over four winters ago that Loren started writing the first chords and lyrics to what makes up the majority of the music that My Dying Wish is playing today. After years of cutting and pasting songs and lyrics together he was ready to take the music to another level. Finding the other four members of the group (for the first time ever) came together quickly and naturally. A friend of a friend introduced Kevin into the band. It wasn’t long after Kevin’s induction that Tyler and life-long-best-friend Ditt (Adam) joined. The four started practicing and writing using all creative influences to shape and mold the songs that are heard today. After playing shows for a few months as a four piece the final ingredient was added to My Dying Wish, its voice. Loren walked away from lead vocals and Chris stepped up to the plate. Once these five members were together it was like looking at a finished painting for the first time. One brush stroke different and it wouldn’t look quite complete.
Fresh off the release of their self-titled EP, My Dying Wish pushes forward gathering more steam with each passing day. With their music maturing, stage show becoming flashier, fan-base growing larger one thing remains the same for My Dying Wish. To never give up, never give in, embrace the positive, always strive forward and realize that “As long as we hold on, we’ll become what we’re meant to be.”
My Dying Wish has reached a regional level of success by playing regular shows across Penssylvania. Their songs have been played on several 90.7fm college radio stations throughout their home state (Messiah College, York College, Shippensburg University, and Penn State Main Campus).
[edit] Origin of the name:
According to Loren Hockensmith, the originator of the band, "My Dying Wish is just that… a wish, a hope, a dream, a thought, a feeling, a passion, a love. It is a wish, above all others that has no end, no conditions but does not come without sacrifice. It is a dream where skies don’t know the meaning of the words like “limits”, and where tears don’t fall in vain. Because I’d rather spend a million days chasing a dream that may not ever come true, than one waiting for the clock to strike five. My Dying Wish is an opportunity to walk away from a comfortable “sure thing” (even though nothing in this world is) and follow your heart to a place where most will never go. I have spent everyday over the last ten years working and striving for one goal. A split second in time where someone can relate with what I was feeling when I wrote a line, or for a brief moment, lose all their inhibitions of work or school or everyday life and focus each ounce of their being in that one instant and hang on every word."
