[edit] Extraneous material

This article contains a lot of material that is not really relevant to the Class 504. I intend to prune it. Possibly some of the material could be re-located to other pages. Biscuittin (talk) 22:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Traction motors

Sources disagree on the number and horsepower of Class 504's traction motors. Quoted figures are shown in bold:

  • Ian Allan ABC, 2 x 141 hp = 282 hp (210 kW)
  • Platform 5 pocket book, 4 x 90 kW = 360 kW (483 hp)
  • therailwaycentre.com, total 564 hp (421 kW) implies 4 x 141 hp

EMUs of the 1950s usually had about 250 hp per car so I'd expect around 500 hp for a 2-car set. The figure of 282 hp looks far too low but either of the others looks possible. Biscuittin (talk) 08:13, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
