[edit] Horsepower

I have changed bhp (brake horsepower) to hp horsepower because this is what is shown in Ian Allan ABC of British Railways multiple units. For electric motors, the horsepower has probably been calculated on the basis of 90% of the electrical input, rather than determined with a brake. On this basis, 1 horsepower = 746 watts (mechanical output) = 746/0.9 = 829 watts (electrical input). Biscuittin (talk) 15:10, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
