100,000 Gurkha's in Indian Army? That seems too high. What is the source for this data. --DuKot 05:13, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

See Global Security - as far as I can determine, there have been no appreciable cuts to the Indian Army in the last 15 years; there are certainly still over 40 battalions of Gurkhas in the infantry, and there would also certainly still be Gurkhas in the various support arms (as there are in the British Army). Given the size of the Indian Army (over 1,000,000), I think that 10% of its strength as Gurkhas is a reasonable estimate. Hammersfan 11:10, 4 September 2005
