[edit] It's a start - some suggestions
Unfotrunately I don't have time to keep going with this stub tonight as I have to race off to dinner, but I thought I would get the ball rolling. Melbourne central business district may provide some further ideas. Some info that this article needs:
- the size of the CBD, dimensions, area.
- who surveyed it and when (I used to know this but have forgotten),
- when was it settled
- significant buildings
- width of streets (as compared with other Aust cities they are narrow). One way streets.

The section on bridges could probably be removed and replaced with a link to Bridges of Brisbane, given that the list here is incomplete even if you are only looking at the CBD area. SM247 22:13, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Crime rate
Might want to mention the disgusting crime rate, the latest very violent incident that occurred.
Appeal for witnesses to City throat slashing
A 29-year-old man will undergo surgery today after two men slashed his throat in the city this morning.
The man was walking home from the Down Under Bar along Edward Street when he was approached from behind by two men around 3.15am. One of the men pushed him and an altercation ensued.
One of the offenders then produced a knife and slashed the man’s throat. The victim ran across the street and the two offenders followed.
The man was then stabbed in the back of his right shoulder. He turned around, kicked one of the offenders and ran back towards the Down Under Bar where he hailed a Black and White Cab, which took him to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
The man received a minor laceration to his right shoulder and a substantial laceration to his throat, however his injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
The two offenders are described as being of Asian appearance and in their early to mid 20s. One offender has a slim build and black collar-length hair with sideburns. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a white square motif on the front and back and blue jeans. The second offender is described as being of a medium to chubby build with black hair. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket with a white stripe down each sleeve and the numbers ‘1904’ printed in white on the back, and blue jeans.
Police are appealing for the Black and White Cab driver who picked up the man on Edward Street and any other witnesses to the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
