There used to be monkeys, and other animals, in a zoo within the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, but that was a long time ago.

Established by the government, the area was originally used as a garden area for the growing of crops to feed the penal colony. Nearly three decades later, the site was made into a Botanic Reserve, with scientific research being carried out on native plants. Also, agricultural experiments were carried out in the gardens to develop introduced plants into commercial crops. Figaro 04:44, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
