Anybody want to take a crack at rewriting the Career section? Since Posehn is primarily a comedian, do we want to frame his career by listing his minor roles in television shows? Brainslug 09:42, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Redirect

We need to make a redirect from "Bryan Posehn." I mispelled his name and nothing came up.PowderedToastMan 03:17, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Done. :) --AMK1211 05:26, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

and perhaps various misspellings of his name. I would but I don't have that knowledge Jerky Chid (talk) 03:08, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Credited as a writer

Posehn's written a graphic novel (can be found here) so I added "writer" to his occupation. - Throw 08:32, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reads his Wikipedia page

At the Comedians of Comedy show in Louisville, Ky on 11/5/07, Brian said that he checked his Wikipedia page. He said that he could tell it was mostly written by a fan and was mostly accurate. He said the last entry said that he was unattractive shameless career-climber. He said he removed that and replaced it with a statement that his semen "tastes like gummi bears and" cures diseases. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.72.196.37 (talk) 23:04, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

here is the only diff I could find. No mention of career climbing. I spent what feels like 2 hours digging this up, although I believe it has been only 30 minutes.
It would have been a good candidate for WP:BJAODN. Xavexgoem (talk) 03:31, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I found this edit relating to the career-climbing comment he made, but does not appear to be followed by the gummy bears edit any time soon after that. (By the way, if you look through the edits, you can see that Conan isn't the first time he makes the joke as several people reference it before March 19th.) 65.24.169.83 (talk) 08:27, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
User:Pugmommy7 might also be Posehn based on their limited contributions (Adding the gummy bear cum line). If anyone ever confirms something use the {{Notable Wikipedian}} template. It looks like somewhere in September/October of 2007 is when he did the edits. -Optigan13 (talk) 05:21, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Not a place for stupidity

Hey this place is not the place nor time for all your stupidity. Wikipedia is trying to make itself a reliable source for information. Ok so you enjoyed Conan's interview with him. This is not the place for you to express that joy. crazzycorbe (talk) 05:32, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

On top of that, the transient comments by Posehn on the show and the vandalism that it may spawn are not appropriate content for a Wikipedia article. Please do not add commentary to the article about the fact that people were vandalizing the article about the fact that Posehn purportedly vandalized his own article... ju66l3r (talk) 05:37, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I do think it is noteworthy to mention Posehn's comments. Nevertheless, the decision to lock the article makes sense and may need to remained locked for a longer period of time. Kyros (talk) 05:45, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
We don't mention every joke someone makes on some talk show (in fact, we really shouldn't mention any at all; they're almost never encyclopedic). The only reason this one is any different is because he mentioned wikipedia, which is self-referential, and therefore null.
Oh shit, now Izzard is talking about WP on Carson. Off we go again. -R. fiend (talk) 05:52, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

This can probably go back to semi-protection now. -R. fiend (talk) 14:25, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Conan O'brien

{{editprotected}} Ok, sweet. We've got the page protected. I think it would be prudent to add the info about his airing on Conan. Not necessarily the text, but just that he was a guest on March 18th, 2008. Man, I was overwhelmed last night trying to revert all the vandals. It was like a firesale. --InvisibleDiplomat666 15:27, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I see no reason to add that to the article. These sorts of guys make appearances all the time on talk shows. Unless he does something like jump over a couch and act like a raving lunatic, such appearances are mundane and not encyclopedic. -R. fiend (talk) 15:31, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
And maybe you're right. The discussion page could suffice. But it was a big story for him to mention WP like that. Who knows, maybe someone somewhere else will reference and cite it, like John Stewart. --InvisibleDiplomat666 15:49, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually, WP is mentioned quite a bit these days in such forums. Certainly Colbert mentions it all the time. It's actually not terribly uncommon for guests on talk shows to bring up their Wikipedia pages; Marilu Henner did so on Ellen a little while back (yeah, sometimes I watch too much TV). WP discourages self-referential material, so we basically treat coverage like we do any other website. If Posehn had discussed something like myspace we wouldn't mention it here, so we don't for Wikipedia either. A news story in itself, like the Seigenthaler incident, is a different story though.
Anyway, good job fighting off the firesale. I think in all the confusion and constant edits I may have accidentally been reverting to a version that still had vandalism. Well, it's better now. Times like that make me miss being an admin, as I would have semi-protected the page as soon as I say Posehn mention it. Oh well. -R. fiend (talk) 16:46, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree with R. fiend on this one (as might be clear from my comment in the section above from last night's minor affair. Unlike a Colbert-esque call-to-arms or persistent mention of Wikipedia, this was a fleeting comment that about a dozen or so people chose to act upon. That's just not the sort of notable event worthy of mentioning in an encyclopedia. If this were a "wikiality"-style campaign or extended affair that he was attempting to wage, then that would be different. ju66l3r (talk) 00:15, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Indeed Posehn, himself, admitted to personally vandalizing subjective negative opinions against himself in the article, can ya blame the guy? Sochwa (talk) 20:37, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
  • He also said, during his appearance, that the page was now "locked", but that he had added the information that his penis, nicknaked "Short Round", tastes like gummi bears, and cures depression, also that nobody would test his claims. I suspect he was in error on all counts, but the number of addresses the edits have been coming from should give him some "geek cred", or many friends with computers who are willing to take orders. Colin Pye (talk) 02:29, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
  • I've removed the editprotected template as I couldn't see that there was any consensus to make the requested edit. If you would still like the change to be made, please discuss it carefully and provide specific details on what you want done when you put the template back up. Thanks. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:18, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Why not unprotect? The spate of vandalism was due to a mention on TV that is far enough in the past. There is certainly no reason for anything stronger than semi-protection anyway. -R. fiend (talk) 17:26, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Just Shoot Me

Something that wasn't mentioned in his career is that he had a re-occuring role on the sitcom "Just Shoot Me" —Preceding unsigned comment his dick tasteslike gummi bears and cures the blues added by 24.31.173.205 (talk) 08:09, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

It's in the intro, maybe should be in Career too. -Colfer2 (talk) 15:04, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] semi=protection

This article is a regular vandal target and that doesn't seem to be letting up. A recurring joke he apparently tells at a lot of his stand up performances (and on network TV) is about how he edits his article to say his penis tastes like candy or whatever, so various vandals are adding it daily. I think a long term semi-protect might be in order until he gets some new material. Anyone agree? -R. fiend (talk) 06:37, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I'd agree, it's not constant vandalism, but it is steady enough that a round of semi-pro might knock it down. Redrocket (talk) 06:41, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to request semi-protect again, the IP vandalism is coming in hourly right now. Doc Tropics 22:37, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I just beat you to it. -R. fiend (talk) 22:39, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
LOL...I noticed. I got an edit conflict and it was you; well done.Doc Tropics 22:41, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
