The British Youth Film Academy or the BYFA Mission statement states that

British Youth Film Academy will develop revolutionary film education projects that bridge the gap between education and professional employability. Each regional project will utilise the experiences of the project board, the skills of media professionals and the energy of young people in the creation of professional standard products.

The BYFA runs Summer Schools during the months of July and August.The Aim of these schools is to create and develop the Creative skills of the youth.

In 2007 the Summer School was held at Sandbach School
