British Urban Film Festival (BUFF)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The British Urban Film Festival (BUFF) was formed in July 2005 to showcase urban independent cinema in the absence of any such state-sponsored activity in the UK.
Supported by filmmakers and British actors, the organisation was established as BUFF Enterprises Ltd by Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe & Bernard Kordieh.
BUFF, in partnership with organisations like The Hip-Hop Association (USA) and Propeller TV (UK) was created to develop & exploit homegrown British urban talent in the independent film & TV sector. With offices in East London, the company has also devised TV projects including 'The Search for BUFF', a programme designed to find beautiful or 'buff' people to become cover models for the British Urban Film Festival. Filmed on location across the UK, the pilot was screened at the headquarters of ITV (Independent Television) in London's South Bank and made its Christmas day broadcast debut on BEN Television (Bright Entertainment Network) in December 2005. The first series aired from January - April 2006 with a second series to be broadcast on BEN Television in May 2007 in addition to the annual staging of the film festival.
