The British Undergraduate Philosophy Society (BUPS) is a student run, non-profit organisation that exists as the primary connection between undergraduate philosophy students across Britain. Although the society is primarily aimed at undergraduate philosophy students from Britain it is also open to non-British members, and students either studying alternative subjects, or at alternative levels (non-undergraduates) of philosophical training.

The aims of the society are:[1]

  • To get students discussing philosophy, visiting conferences and socialising with members of other universities
  • To provide contacts and opportunities for students without an active local philosophy society
  • To help students with common interests find one another and share information about upcoming events and publications
  • To provide a contact point for A-level pupils or university students in other subjects thinking about studying philosophy at university

The British Undergraduate Philosophy Society has a related project in the British Journal of Undergraduate Philosophy. The BJUP is the English-speaking world's only national undergraduate philosophy journal, publishing the best papers from BUPS' conferences, as well as high-quality essays by direct submission.

The BJUP is published quarterly, and is available in both a print, and an electronic version (which is circulated free of charge to society members by email - the society itself being of free membership).

The journal is also published online, and is available here.
