'British Swimming is the governing body for swimming, diving, synchronised swimming, water polo and open water in the United Kingdom. It is an amalgamation of the national governing bodies of three of the home countries: the asa (England), the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association (Scotland), and the Welsh Amateur Swimming Association (Wales).

[edit] Amateur Swimming Association Rebranding

On 1st June 2008 the Amateur Swimming Association announced that it was rebranding as 'the asa' to "create a new definition of who it is and what it does."
