[edit] Postal Orders of the British Field Post Office in Kosovo
BPOs were issued at the British Field Post Office at BFPO 559, Pristina, Kosovo from 2000. It is not yet known if or when it closed down, as information is extremely sketchy, because the location of the BFPOs are generally a well-guarded secret in the British Armed Forces. It is for this reason that these postal orders are sought after by collectors.
It is interesting to note that this BFPO used several postmark datestamps. The datestamp used to issue postal orders was the one inscribed 'FIELD POST OFFICE 390'. Other datestamps include 'FIELD POST OFFICE 191', 'FORCES POST OFFICE 243',and 'BRITISH FORCES POST OFFICE 236 PARCEL POST', but these are not yet confirmed as having been used to issue postal orders.[1]
[edit] BFPOs in Commonwealth countries
The postal orders that are known to have been issued by such BFPOs may be listed in a separate section under the appropriate country. For example, a British postal order that is issued at the British United Nations Field Post Office in Nicosia may be listed under Postal Orders of Cyprus, whereas, a British postal order issued at Dhekelia may be listed under Postal Orders of the Dhekelia Sovereign Base Area.
[edit] BCFPOs
These are a special type of BFPO, as these are located in embassies (if located in a foreign country) or a High Commission (if located in a Commonwealth of Nations country).
[edit] Services
BFPOs are usually operated by British Army units. However, the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy may also open BFPOs as well.
